At Calgary Cycle, we've always believed that bikes inspire more than just great rides. They inspire creativity, community, and stories worth sharing. Our Artist Series is a collection of limited edition T-shirts featuring original artwork created by local artists and members of the Calgary Cycle community. Each design has its own inspiration, style, and story, making every release unique. Our first Artist Series design was created by longtime Calgary Cycle team member and local artist Lynn. Here's a little about her and the inspiration behind the artwork. "Hi, I'm Lynn! If you've been shopping at the store over the past eight years, there's a good chance we've met. I've always loved bikes, and I've always loved making art. My background is in fine arts, with a focus on printmaking and drawing. I earned my degree in printmaking from the University of Calgary and later spent several years working in the stock photography industry. Whether it was road, track, or mountain biking, bikes often found their way into my artwork. This print is based on a photo I took of Derek Lee launching off a jump on T-Dub. I was drawn to the contrast of his silhouette against the trees and wanted to capture that moment in a print. Printmaking includes many different techniques, and this piece was created using a gel print process. Layers of paint are built up on a printing plate and then transferred to paper using a press, creating a unique, hand-pulled print. I hope you enjoy the T-shirts as much as I enjoyed creating the design!"
